Unchanging Truth.
Living Hope.

St. John's Lutheran Church

Christ-centered, Biblically faithful, confessionally Lutheran since 1905.

A Message From
Pastor Chris Brademeyer

Welcome! We are a rural Lutheran church of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, committed to the clear and faithful teaching of Holy Scripture as it has been confessed by the Church through the ages. Here, Christ is at the center of all that we do. Through the preaching of His Word and the administration of His Sacraments, He delivers forgiveness of sins, life, and salvation just as He has promised. In a changing world, we hold fast to the unchanging truth of God’s Word and gladly confess the faith once delivered to the saints.

We are a congregation shaped by generations of faithful Christians and sustained by the same Gospel that has always given the Church her life. Rooted here in Oakes and attentive to our neighbors, we strive to serve with humility, love, and steadfast hope. Whether you are visiting for the first time or seeking a church home, we invite you to come, hear, and receive Christ, who is the same yesterday and today and forever.

What We Believe

As confessional Lutherans, we believe that we are saved by grace through faith for the sake of Jesus Christ’s death upon the cross. This truth is revealed to us through the words of Holy Scriptures which alone are our source of doctrine and belief. We believe that this Biblical faith is faithfully confessed in the Apostles', Nicene, and Athanasian creeds and in the Book of Concord. FAQs

Q: Are children welcome to come to church with me?

A: We love kids and so does our Lord Jesus! Children are welcome to join us for our Sunday services are for Sunday School afterwards.

Q: What should I dress like? Where should I sit?

A: Everyone is welcome and may wear what they want and sit where they want.

Q: Do I have to participate?

A: You are welcome to participate in as much as you feel comfortable doing.  Pastor would be happy to answer any questions you have.

Q: Can I take Communion?

A: A: The Lord's Supper today is celebrated at our altar in the sure and glad confidence that, just as Jesus said, He feeds us with His Body and Blood in this Sacrament. Because this Sacrament confesses unity of doctrine and faith (1 Cor. 11:17ff), and because "it requires all hearts to believe," we ask that anyone who has not received the Lord's Supper at this altar from Pastor Brademeyer first speak to him before the Divine Service.
